New Book Release!
Born and raised in the Pink Houses projects in East New York, Brooklyn, Joel grew up as a proud CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), shaping his resilience and perspective from an early age. As a teenager, he moved to Brighton Beach and later attended Hunter College in Manhattan.
After graduating, Joel worked in Brooklyn before deciding the cold weather wasn’t for him. He moved to Coral Springs, Florida, where he has lived for over 40 years. There, he built a life with his wife, Ann, raising two daughters and caring for several rescue dogs.
Joel spent more than three decades in the bookmaking business before being forced into retirement by local authorities. Missing the action and adrenaline of that world, he turned to writing—finding a new outlet that captured the same intensity without the risk.
When asked about his past, Joel jokes, “I was just doing research for my novel.”
Today, Joel continues to write and enjoy the Florida lifestyle with his family, bringing authenticity and lived experience to every page of his work.
Joel Sansone is the author of Blue Book, a gripping look inside the high-stakes world of underground bookmaking, where risk, survival, and splitsecond decisions shape everything. Drawing from real-life experience, he delivers an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes perspective few ever get to see.
